From yesterday's Gospel reading:

"But Jesus said unto them, Ye know not what ye ask: can ye drink of the cup that I drink of? and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with?" (Mark 10:38)

I was tagged by my friend Mardi, and I tag whoever wishes to do this, stating what you like most about the seasons :-)
_________________________________________________

In Spring: Easter, beautiful weather, spring training/start of baseball season

In Summer: good weather still (even if warmer than spring), All-Star game (well, ever since 1997, perhaps that's not a highlight anymore. lol.), my birthday.

In Fall: falling leaves, holidays (like Thanksgiving), World Series, most of Advent (since Winter doesn't technically start until a few days before Christmas)

In Winter: Christmas, and.....er....well....(I'm thinking! I'm thinking! lol.) New Years and Lent? Otherwise, I'm just waiting for spring. :-)

Rules of the tag

1. Tag at least three people after your post.

2. Post back to the blog that tagged you.

3. Post the rules of the tag and please don’t post the things you least like about the seasons, but what you like best

"The problem with LiveJournal:
We all think we are so close, but really, we know nothing about each other.
So I want you to ask me something you think you should know about me.
Something that should be obvious, but you have no idea about.
Ask away. Then post this in your LJ and find out what people don't know about you!"

Which Church Father are you?

OK, I *had* to do this quiz.

First, I answered the questions honestly, and this was my result:

You’re St. Melito of Sardis!

You have a great love of history and liturgy. You’re attached to the traditions of the ancients, yet you recognize that the old world — great as it was — is passing away. You are loyal to the customs of your family, though you do not hesitate to call family members to account for their sins.

Find out which Church Father you are at The Way of the Fathers!

Then, I decided to...er...answer the questions by giving the *FUN* answers. And my result?

You’re St. Jerome!

You’re a passionate Christian, fiercely devoted to Jesus Christ and his Church. You are willing to labor long hours in the Lord’s vineyard, and you have little patience with those who are less willing or able to work as you do. Your passions often carry you into temptation zones of wrath, lust, and pride.

Heh. :-)

Just to let everyone know, [info]zamar46 is very awesome. :-)

A St. Louis Cardinals shirt and a G.K. Chesterton CD? Baseball and books: what better combination? Thanks a lot!

[EDIT: And another nice piece of Chesterton memorabilia as well! :-)]

BTW, I just came across this in a post I did about two and a half years ago, but I decided I would do it again tonight (since I have nothing else to write):

Look at my LJ interests). Pick one (or more, if you like) that you find confusing or intriguing, and comment here. I’ll explain what it means and what makes it significant to me.

Then please post this in your own LJ, if you like, so that I can learn about your interests, too.

I've been tagged by [info]princess_mia...

The rules are that for 8 days you have to post something that made you happy that day. Tag 8 people to do the same.

Well, I don't know if I will do this for eight days (I would probably simply be repeating the same things every day, so this might be my only day I do this), but....

-I had a good day at work :-) (and I hope that will continue for my last two months there)
-Getting onto LiveJournal, I had great posts to read on my friends page, just like I do every day. Admittedly, I don't always comment on posts, but I do read them. :-)
-I have plenty of good books to read as well, and which I plan on doing later. (OK, "reading" isn't the right term. Like I've said before, I don't have much opportunity to read without distractions, and I don't like to try to read new books with such distractions. But at least I can re-read parts of good books I have read in the past).

OK, that's it for now (not much, I know, but...). And instead of tagging 8 people specifically, I'll only say anyone who wishes to do this as well, consider yourself tagged. :-)

I finally decided to do a quiz!

Slang is too sacred and precious to be used promiscuously. It should be led up to reverently for it expresses what the King's English could not. -GKC

All slang is metaphor, and all metaphor is poetry -GKC

Your Linguistic Profile:
75% General American English
10% Dixie
10% Yankee
0% Midwestern
0% Upper Midwestern
What Kind of American English Do You Speak?

0% Midwestern, even though I'm from near St. Louis....Interesting.

I tell you naught for your comfort,
Yea, naught for your desire,
Save that the sky grows darker yet
And the sea rises higher.

Night shall be thrice night over you,
And heaven an iron cope.
Do you have joy without a cause,
Yea, faith without a hope?

- G.K. Chesterton, The Ballad of the White Horse
